We are Donté & Shar! Since 2014, we've brought African drumming to schools throughout Fresno and the Central Valley through high-energy performances, assemblies, interactive drumming, and educational programs. Whether we're working with a small group or hundreds of students at a school-wide assembly, our goal is the same: bring students together through music, participation, and the shared experience of rhythm. Our school had the opportunity to watch African Drum Interactive perform at an assembly recently. It was amazing, informative, engaging, and a whole lot of fun. It was truly something to see so many of our students connect with a performance culturally relevant to them. I hope we get to see them every year!

I love how Donte and Shar are able to engage everyone of all ages to participate. Their positive attitude and energy is contagious that makes it easy for students to dance and drum, all while learning about African culture. Can’t wait to have them back!

This duo is amazing to watch. They are great teachers, get students involved, and teach them how to drum and sing along. You might think that high school students are standoffish, and they can be, but Donte and Shar quickly break down barriers, get the kids drumming and having fun. I was so surprised to see a group of about 30 or so kids just jump right in, not be afraid, and enjoy themselves…
